Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peak Crafty Cupcakes Team Blog Hop

Crafty Cupcakes August 2017 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Crafty Cupcakes Team Stampin' Up! Blog Hop for August 2017.  Each month members of the team take part in our Team Blog Hop to share with you our cards and projects made using the fabulous Stampin' Up products.  You are currently visiting Wendy Porter in the UK and below you will see the full list of everyone taking part. To move to the next blog click the name after mine in the list.  This month our theme is 'Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peak'.  Thank you for visiting my blog today.

This card was made using the 'Wise Men from Afar' stamp set from the soon to be released Holiday Catalogue.

I have always loved the Christmas story;  the journey of Mary and Joseph - how awful for Mary to have to travel so far when she was so heavily pregnant... and on a donkey too!; the shephards in their fields seeing a host of angels, I would have died of shock, I am sure; then the arrival in Bethlehem and the birth in a stable amongst animals and not in a nice clean hospital; and of course the Wise Men.  How romantic, they knew there was going to be a new king born and they felt compelled to travel hundreds of miles ... not in a car, or anything comfy... but by camels... I am so glad I didn't live in those times.

I was delighted to see this stamp set in the new Holiday Catalogue, and especially loved the sample shown... what more can you want on a Christmas... Three Wise Men in their finery and a star of course.

Anyway, this card is made using

This card is made using:
  • Whisper White cardstock
  • Night of Navy cardstock
  • Silver 1/8" ribbon
  • Inks: Night of Navy and Smoky Slate
  • Silver embossing powder
  • 1" circle punch

To make:

Cut cardstock to size

  • Whisper White, A4 cut in half , scored and folded
  • Night of Navy 5 3/4" x 4"
  • Whisper White 5 5/8" x 3 7/8"
On the Whisper White mat, I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy first and then added the palm tree in Smoky Slate, stamping off first, so the image is not too bold.
Then I rubbed my page with my embossing buddy and stamped the three kings in versamark, added the silver embossing powder and then heat embossed.
I added the shaddow beneath the tree and the wise men using Smoky Slate, again stamping off first.

I punched a 1" hole in the top right hand quarter, so my star could show through.

I added the ribbon across the bottom, then separately tied a bow (using the bunny ears method) and attached it with a glue dot.

On the Night of Navy cardstock, I used the white mat to mark where my star should be, then used the embossing buddy again, before stamping with versamark and applying silver embossing powder and then heat embossing.

I layered the Whisper White mat to the Night of Navy mat with dimensionals and then this mat to the card base using fuse.
Just love the embossing... look at the detail... fab-u-lus!
