I am delighted (though a little scared) to have been invited to be one of the Crafty Cupcakes Design Team for the month of October. This month, Lea Denton is also on the Design team.
The stamp set we are going to be working with this month is Balloon Celebrations. To go alongside this stamp set there is a punch, called the Balloon Bouquet punch.
All the projects for this month were made whilst I was staying in a friends lovely home in Padstow. It meant I was restricted to the craft supplies I had with me. The weather forecast for the week, looked like it was going to be rain, rain and more rain. Fortunately, I had sort of planned what I thought I would make so I piled my supplies into the car... in fact they took up more room than my bag of clothes... tee hee .... see, I have my priorities all sorted!
For my first week, here is a card made with both the stamp set and the punch, plus some washi tape.
The base card is covered with a mat of Basic Black cardstock.
The balloons are punched in Basic Black cardstock and then I covered 5 in Washi Tape. I used the Pick a Pattern set.
Tip: when covering a balloon I found it useful to lay the shape onto our silicon mat and then cover with the washi tape, leaving a good border all round each balloon shape. When done it was easy to pull off the covered shape, so the washi could be to the back of each balloon.
I stamped the strings onto a mat of Whisper White, then the balloons were attached. I used fuse for the first black balloon and then the others were layered with dimensionals.
The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink and layered onto a shadow of Basic Black cardstock and added to the front of the card.
There we have it a card, ready to send.
I am so pleased to re-visit the Balloon Celebration stamp set again. It was one of the first I ever bought when I became a demonstrator. I had never been very good at stamping and thought this one looked like it might be one I could be successful with. I must admit... I was hopeless! But, with the gentle coaching and coaxing of Lea, my lovely upline, I finally got it right and now I am pleased to say I love stamping and really enjoy sharing my 'journey' with other crafters particularly those who have not stamped before.
I love too, that I thought of using Washi Tape. I always buy it when I see it in the catalogue, then sometimes it just looks at me, saying "use me". Well I really did this time.. and now I have the idea, will be doing this again ))
Thank you for stopping by. See you next week with another project.
